  • Visit Jerez this June for the World GP Bike Legends

Motorcycle Racing Fans of a certain age will be delighted to know that a new classic motorcycle racing event is staging its very first (of hopefully many annual)n classic bike racing events this June at the superb Jerez de la Frontera circuit, just a few hours drive from Marbella.

The World GP Bike Legends event will take place from the 19th - 21st June, and looks like being a superb weekend for biking fans of all ages.  Some of the key reasons to get yourself up to Jerez:

    • An amazing field of top quality riders with over 30 World Championships between them – rider like Freddie Soencer, Kevin Schwantz,  Wayne Gardener, Christian Sarron, Loris Capirossi, Angel Nieto, Carlos Lavado, Phil Read, etc.
    • A chance to see these greats racing their classic 2-stroke bikes again – see 14 races over the weekend with Saturday qualifying and Friday free practice sessions.
    • A top class range of popular biker supporting entertainment with live music from Bionnie Tyler, James Toseland (Double World Superbike Champions and MotoGp rider) and several world famous tribute bands including QueenMania and The ZZ Tops on stage playing numerous hits from the iconic 70s, 80s and 90s., classic bike displays, comedy, a trials show and trade village.
    • The opportunity to get up close to the biking heroes and legendary machinery from the past in an informal open-paddock.
    • The chance to visit and enjoy the legendary Jerez Circuit, a venue which easily handles 250,000 fanatical bike fans over a weekend (as it did earlier this month for the MotoGP).
    • Our beautiful southern Spanish weather!  Unlike Spa and the Isle of Man you should only require shorts and T- Shirts,  It will be hot!

This event is ‘the ultimate weekend for any fan of classic grand prix motorcycle racing’ and an excellent opportunity to enjoy biking nostalgia from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s on the doorstep of Marbella.

The organisers stress this event is racing focused, the first event of its type to pit legendary riders from the sport’s golden era against each another on the 2-stroke bikes they rode to World Championships.  Riders will race in three categories - 125cc, 250cc and 500cc.

If you have attended a motorcycle race in Spain you will know just how fanatical the Spanish are about their bike racing!  May be wise to bring ear plugs for use inside and outside the circuit!
