  • Live Music in Marbella this Summer

Marbella music fans, both locals and visitors, are being treated to some great line-ups for the summer of 2016.

Big names playing in the Marbella area this year include Simply Red, Tom Jones, Seal, Status Quo, Kaiser Chiefs, the Stereophonics, Jess Glynn, Brian Ferry, Toploader,  and the All Saints.

Simply Red have the epic pleasure of rocking the famous old Sohail Castle on the outskirts of Fuengirola on August 18th.  A great venue in this historic open roofed venue at the top of a small hill.  Enjoy a drink and take in the summer breezes while enjoying the music.

Seal is playing the famous 5* Puente Romano Beach Resort on Monday 18th July.  A very exclusive and intimate venue for a concert which takes part using the seating from the centre court of the resort’s tennis club.  A great place to enjoy cocktails and feel up close to the artist.See Simply Red in Fuengirola

The Kaiser Chiefs take to the stage in the Pozuelo Torremolinos Football Stadium on 6th August.

Tom Jones and Status Quo are part of a huge lineup playing at Marbella’s ever popular and growing Starlite Festival.  This huge event running from the 14th July through to the 20th August feature s superb lineup of artists including Robert Plant, Santana, Charles Aznavour, Il Divo, Malu and The Corrs.

These high society Marbella concerts take place in the old Quarry set into the dramatic La Concha mountain which towers over Marbella.  The whole area is converted into an open air auditorium, and excellent concert  venue complete with exclusive catering, bars and a lively late night disco.

Starlite Marbella, which started in 2012, is considered one of Europe’s greatest social events featuring not only music but also including gastronomy, disco, arts, fashion and cinema.

As usual the Gibraltar Music Festival, which takes place on the 3rd and 4th of September 2016, features a superb line up with a great mix of  acts to keep the old and young listeners happy!  The Stereophonics, All Saints, KT Tunstall, Jesse Glynne, Brian Ferry, Toploader, Rosario and the local band Frontiers are among the many bands in this years event.  Like Starlite this event has grown dramatically in the past few years moving from a single evening, single stage event to a multi day and multi stage festival.  Another great location for an open air concert with the dramatic rock of Gibraltar as the backdrop.

Summer in Marbella is a great time to go and watch a concert, with the evening temperatures superb for enjoying music outdoors in the evening breezes.  Get along and enjoy one of the many great concerts.

  • Gibraltar Music Festival - 7th September 2013

Gibraltar Music Festival in SeptemberThis year's Gibraltar Music festival, just an hour's drive up the coast from Marbella, looks like being a great event.

The biggest music festival to be held in Gibraltar to date, this years festival will feature Emile Sande, Texas, Gabrielle Aplin, Olly Murs, Level 42, 10cc, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Lawson and numerous other great bands, playing on two stages from 12 noon until 12 midnight at the Victoria Stadium.

We visited last years festival and it was a huge success with UB40 and Jessie J.

Given the recent troubles at the border I'd plan to arrive early and park on the Spanish side of the border in La Linea before walking across the border.  The stadium is just a short walk across the runway! Why not arrive really early and go and see some of the other great Gibraltar attractions - visit the famous Barbary Apes, have your photo taken in a little red phone box, climb the Mediterranean Steps to the top of the rock, go dolphin watching or just visit Morrisons!

Nice of them to plan this years event on my daughter's 15th Birthday - great present!  Looking forward to it!

Tickets for the festival are available at FNAC, Music Corner, Vijay and online at www.gibraltarmusicfestival.com

Also note that once you are in, you are in for the event!

Re-entry to the Event is not permitted, with the sole exception of parents/guardians accompanying children under the age of 16. After spending the day with the family at The Gibraltar Music Festival, you can drop the kids home with the babysitter and come back to party!

Single use re-entry passes will only be issued on site to parents/guardians who are in possession of both an adult ticket and a child ticket and this single re-entry pass allows for re-entry to the Event without your child. The reason for this exception is because The Gibraltar Music Festival is a family-friendly event and we want to be flexible to the needs of parents/guardians. Adults not accompanying children to the Event will not be allowed re-entry.

  • Gibraltar Music Festival – UB40 and Jessie J

    The music festival in Gibraltar

We had a great evening last night at the Gibraltar Music Festival in the Victoria Stadium just over the runway in Gibraltar.  And it’s pretty impressive that the festival attracts bands of the stature of UB40 and Jessie J.

I’d highly recommend it for anyone looking to visit future events. Easy to get to – we parked on the Spanish side and took the 5 minute walk in.  Enjoyed a drink in Ocean Village and then headed into the concert.

Due to work commitments we missed the local bands and arrived just as UB40 took to the stage, but even arriving late we found a good space on the pitch with great views of the bands and artists as they performed. Jessie J Performing in Gibraltar

And great performances by both with UB40 first pumping out their classic reggae songs, ending with two encores of two of their greatest hits Kingston Town and finally to the crowds approval Red Red Wine.

Then it was the turn of Jessie J who performed superbly and had the crowd dancing to her hits including Do it like a Dude, Nobody’s Perfect and of course Price Tag (Money Money!).

Alway good to see more great things to do in Gibraltar.
